J cubed | Tallahassee, Florida Family Photographer

the good life:
rolling around in bed
on a sunday morning
in your pjs.

hearts heavy
and light
all at the same time.
mornings like this make you want to laugh out loud
and cry from the depths.
we did both.

sending mucho love to this family and their family members elsewhere.

central avenue project | st. petersburg photographer

i've begun a personal project
that forces me to think outside my photographic box,
look through my lens at things i wouldn't normally look at it
and will ultimately, i believe, make me a better photographer.

i've chosen to walk the length of central avenue in st. petersburg
and capture the life that dwells there.
any of you who know central know that it's a world in and of itself.
it changes, often, from one block to the next-
how incredibly fascinating.

for this set, i brought little momma.
(it was our second date. the first was a flop.)

camera: mamiya 645
film: acros 100

finn turns one. | st. petersburg baby photographer

my sweet finn turned one.
i'd been brainstorming ideas for his one year photos
for the entire year
but as his personality evolved
i also turned a corner in my own evolution.

an honest, simple, black & white film session was what felt right for us.
i stripped him down to his diaper.
sat him on my bed with nothing but a few favorites for him to play with:
a blanket, a book, a truck and a brush.

i get goose bumps when i look at these photos.
they are him.
they are me.

happy one year, mr. finn.
momma loves you.

the pier, pelicans and puddles | st. petersburg, fl photographer

I am often accused of being childish.  I prefer to interpret that as child-like.  I still get wildly enthusiastic about little things.  I tend to exaggerate and fantasize and embellish.  I still listen to instinctual urges.  I play with leaves.  I skip down the street and run against the wind.  I never water my garden without soaking myself.  It has been after such times of joy that I have achieved my greatest creativity and produced my best work.
